emergency dentist albany oregonI can hear my mother saying, “Kids, will be kids!”  Inevitably when the kids are being kids, there can be an elbow to the mouth or a knee to the cheek.  Not to mention accidents involving sports or other physical activity. What should you do if a tooth is knocked out?

If it is a permanent tooth: first locate the tooth.  Hold it by the crown (not by the roots) and rinse it. Do not scrub it. Place it in a glass of milk or water if possible, and immediately contact our office.  If you are traveling, find the nearest dentist to you.  Remember that any tooth is more likely to survive being knocked out if it’s seen by your dentist and returned to its socket within one hour of an accident.

Go ahead and enjoy life; just watch out for those elbows and knees!
